Lawmakers working on a major water infrastructure bill will hear from Army Corps of Engineers officials this week about the Trump administration’s priorities for the legislation.
Adam Telle, assistant secretary of the Army for civil works, and William Graham Jr., chief of engineers at the Army Corps, will appear before a House Transportation and Infrastructure subcommittee Tuesday and the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee on Wednesday.
Both hearings will focus on the Water Resources Development Act, biennial legislation that has historically passed with strong bipartisan support. It authorizes Army Corps studies and projects to reduce flooding, restore wetlands, and improve navigation projects such as locks and dams.
Telle and Graham are likely to face questions about the Army Corps’ progress in carrying out initiatives authorized by the 2024 Water Resources Development Act, with some senators having complained last fall about delays.
