‘Confusion, chaos’: NEPA rework draws ire from Dems, enviros

President Donald Trump’s push to reshape the nation’s bedrock environmental law is being met with derision from thousands of environmental and civil rights groups and blue states who have submitted comments to agencies.

Energy producers and conservatives, however, are more than pleased.

On the Democratic front, 17 attorneys general from states like California, Massachusetts and Michigan, in addition to the District of Columbia, are blasting the administration’s plan to scrap existing rules for implementing the National Environmental Policy Act and replace them with nonbinding procedures.

They have sent letters expressing their displeasure to agencies including the departments of the Interior, Energy, Agriculture and Defense, and the Army Corps of Engineers.
