The House passed President Donald Trump’s $9 billion rescissions package around midnight Friday to claw back funding to public media and international aid — including for climate, energy and disaster efforts.

The legislation targets funding for implementing the Montreal Protocol and a $125 million U.S. contribution to the international Clean Technology Fund. It passed the House 216-213 after clearing the Senate early Thursday morning.

House Republican leaders were hoping to vote on the legislation earlier ahead of a Friday night deadline, but disagreements surrounding an unrelated resolution on releasing documents related to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein delayed matters.

To streamline the process, the House GOP deemed the bill passed in the Rules Committee resolution meant to set parameters for floor debate.
