The Senate Judiciary Committee on Thursday approved President Donald Trump’s former defense attorney, Emil Bove, for an appeals court seat over Democratic protests.

Bove, who is currently serving as acting deputy attorney general, has faced strong opposition from Senate Democrats to a lifetime appointment on the 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. They tussled repeatedly with Chair Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) during a markup before ultimately walking out.

Grassley dismissed the dissent as a “political hit job, timed for maximum media splash with minimum substance.” The chair started calling the vote for Bove and other judicial picks as Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.) continued to speak in opposition.

“This is wrong and you know it,” Booker said as Grassley kept talking. “I know your heart, Sen. Grassley. This is wrong.”
