Dems look to scrap renewable energy tax guidance

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and other top Democrats are moving to overturn new renewable energy tax credit guidance tied to the Republicans’ One Big Beautiful Bill Act.

Congressional Republicans and President Donald Trump dramatically rolled back solar and wind incentives using the budget reconciliation process last year.

Critics say guidance released in August makes it even harder for companies to benefit. The guidance narrowed what projects can qualify as having begun construction.

“There is no reason we should be making it harder to build wind and solar projects that will provide low-cost energy and create jobs,” said Schumer, who introduced the legislation alongside Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) and Finance ranking member Ron Wyden (D-Ore.). “Democrats will keep fighting to deliver lower energy prices for American families.”
