A Washington-based nonprofit that advocates for energy efficiency has hired a new executive director.
Jennifer Layke will join the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy as its next executive director on Nov. 6, the group announced Monday. She’ll succeed Steven Nadel, who announced in January that he planned to step down after 24 years leading the organization.
Layke has spent decades working in the energy sector, including her most recent position at the World Resources Institute as its global director for energy. She was also the executive director of the Institute for Building Efficiency at Johnson Controls.
“Jennifer brings exactly the leadership we need to expand ACEEE’s impact amid rising energy demand and affordability challenges,” said Penni McLean-Conner, chair of ACEEE’s board and executive vice president at Eversource Energy. “Her track record in innovation and partnership will strengthen our reach with policymakers, businesses and communities.”
