Employees at the Environmental Defense Fund have voted to unionize, organizers announced.

Following the public launch of the green group’s employee union in December, more than 80 percent of participants voted in favor of unionization, the union EDF Together said.

Staff at the green group celebrated the vote, which concluded Friday, as a win for the environmental group’s staff and for unionization efforts across the movement.

“At over 460 eligible employees, this will be the largest environmental nonprofit union in the U.S.,” said union member Maximilian Schreck. That’s “a huge milestone for the labor movement in the sector.”
