Hollywood icon and environmental activist Robert Redford died Tuesday. He was 89.
Best known for his roles in films including “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid” and “All the President’s Men,” Redford was also a prominent environmentalist credited with helping to turn a young green group into an advocacy powerhouse.
Redford died Tuesday morning at his home in Utah, multiple news outlets reported.
He spent decades as a trustee at the Natural Resources Defense Council, co-founded an environmental filmmaking nonprofit with his son and prodded lawmakers about public lands protections.
