EPA’s most prominent economist who reviewed many of its consequential regulations is jumping to a think tank well-versed in the rulemaking process.
Al McGartland is joining the Institute for Policy Integrity this week as its economic policy director, the organization announced Monday. McGartland retired from EPA this fall after heading the agency’s National Center for Environmental Economics for 25 years.
“Al is one of the nation’s leading experts on environmental economics and policy,” said Richard Revesz, the institute’s faculty director and co-founder who led the White House Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs during the Biden administration.
Revesz added in his statement, “I have greatly admired him from the time we first met in the mid-1990s, and am thrilled that he will bring his knowledge and expertise to our team and that we’ll now be colleagues.”
