EPA has named a longtime official to the top career position in the agency’s enforcement program.
Cecil Rodrigues is now principal deputy assistant administrator for the Office of Enforcement and Compliance Assurance. His selection solidifies the leadership team at the office, which has seen additional funding under the Biden administration as the agency rallies to crack down on polluters.
David Uhlmann, who leads the enforcement office, told staff in an internal email obtained by E&E News that Rodrigues has been “a wonderful colleague and partner” to him and others at EPA.
“Cecil has made significant contributions to our work based on his broad EPA experience, deep knowledge of environmental law, and strong regional perspective,” Uhlmann said in the email, which was sent last Wednesday.
