EPA inks workforce restructuring deal

The agency is partnering with the government’s HR branch as it moves to cut staff.

The Trump EPA has agreed to work with the government’s human resources arm on reconfiguring its staff.

The agreement, dated Feb. 21, was signed the following week by officials at EPA and the Office of Personnel Management, the agency that oversees the government’s personnel policy.

The document, titled “A Memorandum of Agreement for Workforce Restructuring Services,” comes as the Trump administration is promising deep cuts to the size of the federal workforce.

President Donald Trump and EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin have signaled that they plan to pursue significant reductions in EPA’s spending and staffing levels, and the agreement with OPM offers a glimpse into how they plan to do so.
