The Trump administration formally announced its project for expediting cleanups at the nation’s most contaminated sites.

EPA on Wednesday unveiled the Superfund Solutions initiative, a set of “presumptive remedies” that standardize and streamline the process via better tools and faster decisions.

“Our talented career staff have been hard at work on this initiative, and over the coming months, EPA will take concrete steps to cut red tape, expedite analysis and decision-making, identify common-sense solutions, and work with our partners to deliver on communities’ needs,” Deputy Administrator David Fotouhi said in a news release.

The agency published in the Federal Register on Wednesday two proposed changes to the Superfund law: one that rescinds regulations for an obsolete arbitration process for recovery claims under $500,000 and another that revises which evidence is required when filing reimbursement claims.
