EPA is seeking public feedback on dozens of candidates to fill at least three seats on the advisory panel charged with helping to set some of the agency’s weightiest Clean Air Act regulations.
Following a call for nominations in March, the agency has received a total of 53 hopefuls, “based on their expertise and willingness” to serve on the Clean Air Scientific Advisory Committee, according to a roster posted online earlier this month with no formal announcement.
The deadline for public input is May 31; EPA Administrator Michael Regan is expected to name the new members by September.
The nominees mostly come from academia but also include employees of Dominion Energy, the Virginia-based power producer, and other businesses, as well as a senior official at the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality, which Regan headed before joining EPA in 2021.
