EPA launched a case against a New York-based chemical supplier, the latest guidepost for the Trump administration’s enforcement priorities.

The agency announced Monday it filed an administrative complaint against Wego Chemical Group, a company alleged to have imported hundreds of millions of pounds of chemical substances, primarily from China, without reporting it.

“We cannot have companies profit from importing unknown and toxic Chinese chemicals, distributing them without oversight, and threatening unprepared American communities,” Jeffrey Hall, assistant administrator for enforcement and compliance assurance, said in a news release.

The complaint, dated May 22, lodges 10 counts against Wego for failing to comply with reporting requirements under the Toxic Substances Control Act. It is a nonjudicial legal action that initiates the agency’s internal enforcement process.
