EPA’s senior enforcement official left the agency last week.

David Uhlmann, assistant administrator for enforcement and compliance assurance at EPA, sought to revamp the program that had struggled for years with budget cuts and limited staffing. His last day at the agency was Dec. 31, according to an internal email obtained by POLITICO’s E&E News.

“The start of the New Year feels like the right time for me to begin my next chapter,” Uhlmann said in the Dec. 11, 2024, email, bidding farewell to his staff.
