Federal workers’ morale saw a boost this year, according to results of a governmentwide survey released Thursday.

Government workers reported increases in engagement, satisfaction and their employee experience over the previous year, the 2024 Federal Employee Viewpoint Survey data show. And the engagement score was the highest it’s been since the survey began tracking it in 2010.

The uptick in morale marks the latest boost for federal employees, who have reported increases in their engagement and satisfaction since 2022. This year’s surveys — conducted from May 13 until July 5 — were conducted amid a push to get government employees back into offices in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The data’s release comes as federal employees across the government say they are increasingly concerned about the prospect of a second Trump administration. Former President Donald Trump and his allies have vowed to downsize or eliminate some agencies and want to make it easier to fire federal employees.
