A House Oversight and Accountability subcommittee will hold a field hearing Wednesday on the federal response to last year’s devastating wildfires in Lahaina, Hawaii.

Committee Republicans have criticized the Biden administration for alleged shortcomings in the response, including limited availability of temporary housing provided through the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

They’ve said federal agencies should have learned lessons in disaster response from Hurricane Ian in Florida in late September 2022 and possibly applied those in Lahaina.
