EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin met with fossil fuels advocate Alex Epstein last month, in the latest sign of the agency’s retreat from established science on climate change.
The meeting was listed on Zeldin’s public calendar as “meeting with Energy Talking Points,” a reference to Epstein’s blog, where the author lauds fossil fuels as a “climate hero” and outlines policies to undermine wind and solar power.
The 30-minute confab on March 31 — which Epstein confirmed — comes as Zeldin is moving to weaken EPA climate regulations and shift the agency’s focus to causes some view as antithetical to environmental protection, including boosting fossil fuels.
EPA did not respond to multiple requests for information about who initiated the meeting and the issues covered.
