Industry groups representing fuels and truck stop operators urged Congress on Thursday to extend a handful of tax incentives before finishing the year’s legislative business.
Citing the uncertain outcome of tax policy debates in the next session of Congress, the groups pressed for a short-term extension of tax credits for sustainable aviation fuel and other bio-based fuels encouraged as clean energy alternatives.
“Enacting a modest, short-term tax package this fall would help to ensure energy and agriculture market stability and predictability while preserving grounds for an open energy and tax debate in the 119th Congress,” the organizations said in a letter to top leaders in the Senate and House.
Among groups signing the letter were NATSO, representing travel centers and truck stops; the Advanced Biofuels Association; and the American Soybean Association.
