Some farm-state Republicans are urging the Trump administration to include money for specialty crop producers in its farm bailout package — a last-ditch effort before officials roll out the aid next week.

The group of Republicans includes those who represent districts on the West Coast and in states like Florida and Michigan that rely on growers of specialty crops such as fruits, vegetables, tree nuts and coffee.

House Agriculture Chair G.T. Thompson (R-Pa.) said he spoke with officials at the White House and the Department of Agriculture on Tuesday to make the case for spending some of the aid on specialty crops.
