Maryland Gov. Wes Moore during a Thursday panel at the POLITICO Governors Summit touted a bipartisan effort between governors and President Donald Trump to address rising electricity bills as an area where both parties can work together.
“I will work with anybody, and I think we’ve shown that,” Moore said at the POLITICO summit.
The Democratic governor said last month’s joint statement on lowering power bills between governors and the White House was proof that both parties can unite. He noted PJM Interconnection, the grid operator that oversees 13 states and the District of Columbia, initiated plans to tamp down prices after governors and the White House urged action.
Rising energy prices have proven an emerging political problem for Trump and Republicans, a POLITICO Poll released this month showed. While the president strode back into Washington with a promise to cut energy bills in half, electricity prices have risen steadily since Trump’s return to office.
