Environmental groups are suing EPA over its decision to cancel the “Solar for All” program, alleging the agency unlawfully terminated $7 billion in clean energy grants intended for low-income communities.

The lawsuit filed Monday in federal court in Rhode Island challenges the Trump administration’s decision to end the solar energy initiative, which received congressionally mandated funding under the Biden-era Inflation Reduction Act.

“The Trump administration’s rollback of the Solar for All program is a shameless attempt to prop up fossil fuel companies at the expense of families,” said Kate Sinding Daly, senior vice president for law and policy at the Conservation Law Foundation.
