Environmental justice nonprofit GreenLatinos has named environmental lawyer Raúl García as the new chair of the Board of Directors.
GreenLatinos is a nonprofit that looks at the intersection of national and local environmental issues and the Latino community. Based in Colorado, the group advocates for issues from climate justice and clean air to water equity and sustainable communities through Latino representation.
García comes to GreenLatinos after almost 11 years at Earthjustice, an environmental law organization based in Washington, D.C., where he is vice president of policy and legislation. GreenLatinos said he currently leads a team of 30 strategists who cover community health and climate. García also contributes to Earthjustice’s content as an expert on congressional EPA and Interior spending packages.
The nonprofit said it hopes García’s expertise will help to expand GreenLatinos beyond the state programs they currently operate in California, New Mexico, Illinois, Colorado and Texas, into new regions across the nation.
