An environmental group is launching a $2 million advertising campaign against five vulnerable House Republicans for their votes to end clean energy tax credits.
EDF Action, an arm of the Environmental Defense Fund, announced new ads Tuesday targeting Reps. Tom Barrett of Michigan and Mike Lawler of New York for their votes on the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, which clean energy advocates say will raise electricity prices.
The group had previously run ads criticizing Republican Reps. Scott Perry of Pennsylvania, Derrick Van Orden of Wisconsin and Monica De La Cruz of Texas. All five are among the most vulnerable Republicans in next year’s midterm elections.
“Mike Lawler voted to take the people of the lower Hudson Valley in the wrong direction: higher bills and less health care, lower taxes for the highest earners,” said David Kieve, president of EDF Action, in a statement about the Lawler ads. “These ads will ensure that when New Yorkers’ energy bills keep going up, they’ll know who is responsible.”
