Three environmental groups are suing to block the Trump administration’s approval of the nation’s first deepwater liquefied natural gas export terminal off the coast of Louisiana.
The Center for Biological Diversity, the Sierra Club and the Habitat Recovery Project are asking the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals to reconsider the Maritime Administration’s decision to approve a license for the Delfin LNG export project in March, following an executive order from President Donald Trump.
βItβs outrageous that the Trump administration fast-tracked this project with no review of serious environmental risks,β Lauren Parker, an attorney at the Center for Biological Diversity’s Climate Law Institute, said in a statement.
“Nothing about this project is in the public interest,” she said.
