Wyoming Rep. Harriet Hageman on Tuesday launched her bid to succeed retiring Sen. Cynthia Lummis, becoming the first major candidate in what could become a GOP primary battle in the solidly red state.

Hageman, the state’s at-large representative, announced her candidacy only days after Lummis revealed she would not seek reelection.

In a three-minute video — which features Hageman’s 102-year-old mother, the candidate standing in an open-pit mine and attending a rodeo — Hageman paints herself as a defender of the state’s coal industry, a critic of “reckless” resource management plans on federal lands and a supporter of continued anti-immigration efforts.

“We must dedicate ourselves to ensuring that the next 100 years is the next great American century. Wyoming is critical for achieving that goal,” Hageman states in the video, titled “What we fight for.”
