Thirty-eight House Republicans on Thursday expressed fear that “parochial interests” would undermine President Donald Trump’s energy promises as the party crafts its party-line megabill.

In a letter to House Ways and Means Chair Jason Smith (R-Mo.), the conservatives said they were “deeply concerned” Trump’s quest for energy dominance was in jeopardy if leaders agreed to keep parts of the Democrats’ 2022 climate law.

The warning shot comes as key lawmakers and the White House work to finish crafting language for the GOP’s tax, border and energy megabill package.
