House GOP demands more documents on Dems’ ‘green bank’

House Energy and Commerce Republicans want more documents about a contentious Biden-era climate grant program that Republican leaders have branded a “scam.”

The panel’s leadership released another set of requests Wednesday for information about EPA’s Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund, which provided billions of dollars during the Biden administration to nonprofits for climate-related investments.

The so-called green bank has been a favorite target of EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin, who has frozen funding and engaged in legal challenges to stop the money from flowing out.

Energy and Commerce Chair Brett Guthrie (R-Ky.) has backed the Trump EPA challenges to the program, and in April the committee launched a probe into the eight nonprofit funding recipients. Those recipients have defended their work.
