House Republican says Senate energy tax changes ‘fail to meet the moment’

Senate Republicans are trying to quell backlash to their tax bill’s green energy tax credit reforms. Now they’re under fire from key House Republicans, too.

Rep. Andrew Garbarino (R-N.Y.) blasted the Senate Finance proposal for the Biden-era credits, saying they “fail to meet the moment.”

“The layered phase out of the technology neutral tax credits picks winners and losers at a time when our nation is in need of quickly dispatchable power sources,” Garbarino said in a statement.

He argued the Senate plan “cuts off far too early for businesses who have made major domestic investments to reap the economic benefits that incentivized them to build here in the first place.”
