House Republicans block subpoena of Musk

The tech mogul has wreaked havoc across the federal government in a bid to cut costs and push out civil servants.

House Republicans on Wednesday blocked Democrats’ attempt to force tech mogul Elon Musk to come before Congress.

At a House Oversight and Government Reform Committee hearing, ranking member Gerry Connolly (D-Va.) pushed to subpoena President Donald Trump’s leader of the so-called Department of Government Efficiency.

Musk, whose business interests are before several federal agencies, has wreaked havoc across the government in a bid to cut costs and push out civil servants.

“It’s a puzzling world for many people, certainly on this side of the aisle, and I think for some on yours, on who is this unelected billionaire that he can attempt to dismantle federal agencies,” Connolly said.
