House Science Committee Democrats are requesting a formal interview with one of the authors of the Department of Energy’s contrarian climate science report.

Rep. Zoe Lofgren of California — the top Democrat on the Science, Space and Technology Committee — sent a letter to report author Judith Curry on Thursday asking her “to elaborate on your observations and experiences” as part of DOE’s Climate Working Group.

Energy Secretary Chris Wright handpicked Curry and four other researchers to form the group, which wrote a report that downplayed the risks and severity of global warming.

DOE disbanded the group this month in the face of legal challenges. Lofgren’s letter refers to a POLITICO’s E&E News story that quoted Curry, who said the group had been dissolved because of paperwork errors and expressed frustration that DOE “really didn’t dot all the I’s and cross the T’s” to make the group official.
