The House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee unanimously approved its latest Water Resources Development Act bill Tuesday, marking a key milestone for the bipartisan, biennial legislation authorizing water infrastructure.

The panel agreed to add four more projects and two studies to the original bill, for a total of 14 projects and 133 studies. Only four of the project authorizations are new, with the others being modifications to previously approved projects.

New projects include an ecosystem restoration project in Sheridan, Wyoming, a flood reduction project along the Kentucky River, and a proposal to improve navigation and reduce transportation delays in the Columbia River.

Lawmakers also advanced an amendment to speed restoration of the Florida Everglades. The committee otherwise steered clear of several potentially contentious changes that some members put forth.
