The Izaak Walton League of America announced the departure of Executive Director Scott Kovarovics on Monday after a nearly two-decade tenure with the conservation group.
The league’s conservation director, Jared Mott, will take over as interim executive director while an executive search firm looks for candidates to lead the organization, which has more than 200 local chapters across the U.S.
Kovarovics was the Maryland-based group’s executive director for 13 years before his exit Tuesday. He worked for the league for 18 years.
“From championing national conservation priorities to strengthening chapters and expanding opportunities for members, his vision and dedication ensured the League’s enduring role as a powerful voice for America’s outdoors,” said Rachel McBride, chair of the league’s executive board, in a statement. “We are deeply grateful for his service and the legacy he leaves for future generations.”
