Lawmakers in the House will reintroduce bipartisan legislation Tuesday to protect California’s declining number of giant sequoia trees from wildfire.

California Republican Rep. Vince Fong will lead the “Save our Sequoias Act,” his office said, joined by California Democratic Rep. Scott Peters.

Fong holds the seat vacated by former Republican House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, who had championed the bill during his time in Congress.
