A candidate in the Public Service Commission race is grabbing attention with a bawdy ad that asks people to report sagging utility poles.

An independent candidate for the Louisiana Public Service Commission is seizing attention with a provocative campaign video calling attention to electric reliability in the Bayou State.

The video from Chris Justin, who’s running as a no-party candidate for District 1 on the PSC, parodies erectile dysfunction ads and takes aim at both aging power poles and what he calls a failing record of electric reliability in Louisiana.

“Are you worried that your pole is going to let you down when you need it most?” Justin asks in the video, which invites Louisianans to post photos of leaning electrical poles on a website he created, servicemypole.org.

Justin, 39, is a self-employed engineer who previously worked on a contract basis for the PSC. Doing so exposed him to a broken system of utility regulation that he says is manipulated by and for the benefit of utilities and at the expense of consumers.
