Karen Baker is orchestrating a sea change in offshore wind development.

The renewables chief at the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management is under pressure to deliver on President Joe Biden’s ambitious goal to power 10 million U.S. homes with offshore wind by 2030. That means ensuring a pipeline of projects that will last beyond this year — and into a potential Republican administration, if Biden loses reelection.

In an interview with E&E News, Baker exuded confidence that her office was up to the task.

“I’m passionate about clean energy and in the potential that we have in terms of renewables within the U.S.,” she said.
