The Trump administration tapped a House GOP oversight attorney, a former Energy Department official and a policy analyst to work in the White House environmental office.
The new staffers join a small group of political appointees serving in the White House Council on Environmental Quality as it moves to overhaul the federal permitting process under the National Environmental Policy Act.
The Trump team doesn’t list its CEQ staffers on the agency’s website, and the president hasn’t nominated anyone to serve as the Senate-confirmed chair of the agency. Details about who’s working inside the agency were released last month in response to a Freedom of Information Act request.
Additional details about the CEQ team were made public this week in response to a FOIA request seeking details about appointees’ backgrounds. The agency released the resumes of CEQ officials, including the agency’s senior counsel, senior director for communications and intergovernmental affairs, and special assistant for policy.
