Senate Energy and Natural Resources Chair Mike Lee is dismissing a report that at least some colleagues want him to lose his committee gavel for pushing elections overhaul legislation.

The Utah Republican has been vocal in Washington and on social media in favor of the “SAVE America Act,” S. 3752, a bill President Donald Trump has called his top priority but that doesn’t have enough support to become law.

Two Republicans, speaking on condition of anonymity, said taking away Lee’s gavel had been discussed among those angry with his posture. But other lawmakers said critics were just blowing off steam, according to POLITICO reporting.
