New Jersey Gov.-elect Mikie Sherrill has tapped former Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm and other Biden administration alumni to lead her transition team.
Granholm will co-lead an action team on “Making Energy More Affordable and Reliable,” Sherrill said late Friday. Allison Clements, a former Federal Energy Regulatory Commission member, is the other co-chair of that team, Sherrill said.
The team is meant to fulfill the Democrat’s promise to stop skyrocketing electricity bills, which have recently increased by double-digit percentages. It was a key pledge she made in her campaign against Republican Jack Ciattarelli.
“We’re bringing together experts and everyday New Jerseyans alike on a mission to deliver — by driving down costs starting with electric bills, improving state services and accountability, and protecting our kids,” Sherrill said in a statement announcing her transition team, which also has groups focused in areas like reducing housing costs and improving education.
