The Senate is poised to vote this week on a nominee that would give Democrats the majority on a key mine safety panel.
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) last week moved to wind down debate on Moshe Marvit for the Federal Mine Safety and Health Review Commission. He cleared committee last week.
Marvit would give Democrats a majority on the five-member panel, which adjudicated disputes from the Mine Safety and Health Administration.
Marvit, an attorney at the agency, is a long-time labor advocate. He passed the Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee along party lines.
