A battery metals company that recently saw the Energy Department scrap its $57.7 million grant has enlisted the K Street muscle of Brian Ballard, a heavy-hitting lobbyist with ties to the Trump White House.

American Battery Technology tapped Ballard to lobby on a host of issues, including the grant funding that’s in peril as DOE scraps billions of dollars’ worth of funding for clean energy projects.

Among the roster of lobbyists the company hired are Ballard, president of Ballard Partners and President Donald Trump’s former Florida campaign manager; Tracie Pough, former chief of staff for Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz; and Sylvester Lukis, according to a recent lobbying disclosure form.
