New ads hit GOP over energy prices after tax bill vote

Clean energy advocates are betting that Republicans’ votes for President Donald Trump’s tax and spending law will be a liability in next year’s midterm elections.

While provisions in the One Big Beautiful Bill Act regarding health care and taxes have gotten significant attention, some organizations have launched advertising campaigns in recent weeks calling attention to the rollbacks of renewable energy tax incentives.

They’ve coalesced around one major message in their campaigns, arguing that the law will increase electricity costs for consumers at a time when everyday costs are still rising and Trump has promised to bring prices down.

One such group, Clean Energy for America, is deploying billboard ads next week targeting seven of the lawmakers considered most vulnerable in the 2026 races. The ads in lawmakers’ districts say the Republican “just voted to raise your electricity bill” and directs readers to RepublicanRateHike.org, a website the organization created.
