Elon Musk and members of his so-called Department of Government Efficiency made their first collective television appearance Thursday on Fox News, where the tech billionaire proclaimed his team was leaving a “revolution” to curb federal spending and snuff out fraud.
“This is a revolution, and I think it might be the biggest revolution in government since the original Revolution,” Musk told host Bret Baier. “At the end of the day, America will be in much better shape. America will be solvent.”
The interview was the first time many DOGE members appeared publicly to defend their work, which has faced criticism for its lack of transparency as thousands of government employees are facing possible job terminations and agency funding has been frozen.
Joined by seven DOGE members, including Tyler Hassen, who is working at the Interior Department, Musk said DOGE is working to reduce the federal budget deficit by $1 trillion and cut total federal spending by 15 percent.
