New York has filed two new lawsuits challenging the Trump administration’s efforts to stop construction on a pair of offshore wind projects that are expected to power more than 1 million homes.

In the lawsuits, filed Friday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, Attorney General Letitia James (D) argued that the administration’s orders to halt work on the Empire 1 and Sunrise wind projects violate federal law because the government failed to provide a “reasoned explanation” or a “genuine justification” for the pause.

“New Yorkers deserve clean, reliable energy, good-paying jobs, and a government that follows the law,” James said. “These projects were carefully reviewed and already under construction when the federal government pulled the plug without explanation.”

She said the “reckless decision” violates the Administrative Procedure Act and “puts workers, families, and our climate goals at risk.”
