The National Park Service starting Tuesday will seek public comment on how to improve the experience of visitors to national parks.
The request for information, prepublished in the Federal Register on Monday, asks the public to identify possible improvements that could be made to services from trails to education, “including more efficient ways to deliver and manage those services.”
“We’re inviting those who know our parks best, the visitors, to share their experiences,” said Kevin Lilly, the acting assistant secretary for fish and wildlife and parks, in a statement Monday. “Your perspective serves a vital role in improving visitor services and helping us enhance operations across the National Park System.”
The invitation for the public to weigh in, which will be open for 30 days, cites a July order from President Donald Trump to “increase revenue and improve the recreational experience at national parks.” That order made it the policy of the administration to “preserve opportunities for American families to make unforgettable memories at national parks,” the request for information states.
