An effort to send a bipartisan nuclear energy package to President Joe Biden’s desk stumbled this week after Senate leaders failed to secure unanimous support from Democrats. Backers will now have to wait until June to give it another go.

Senate Environment and Public Works Chair Tom Carper (D-Del.) and ranking member Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) used this week as a chance to gauge support for the “Accelerating Deployment of Versatile, Advanced Nuclear for Clean Energy (ADVANCE) Act,” but ran into opposition from Democrats.

The bill is aimed at boosting the advanced nuclear industry, among other provisions.
