The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee will vote on legislation affecting federal rulemaking and the workforce during a Tuesday markup.

On the agenda is H.R. 143, the “Unauthorized Spending Accountability Act,” from Rep. Kat Cammack (R-Fla.), which would phase out programs whose authorizations have expired.

The legislation would have a major impact on federal operations, including energy and environment efforts, because programs are often kept alive through the appropriations process.

“The American people deserve a productive federal government that provides transparency and accountability across all agencies, processes, and procedures,” said Oversight Chair James Comer (R-Ky.) in a statement about this week’s markup.
