Phillips 66 intends to lay off 277 employees in 2026 from its now-idled Los Angeles refinery, according to a company filing the state processed Monday.
What happened: The oil firm filed a quartet of California work adjustment retraining notifications, two on Monday and two last month, detailing its layoff plans at its Southern California refinery.
The company said it intends to lay off 82 employees at its Wilmington facility and 40 employees at its nearby Carson facility on April 3, and 111 employees in Wilmington and 44 employees in Carson on Dec. 1. It cites a permanent closure as the reason for all of the layoffs.
The WARN Act requires employers to give the state 60 days notice before a mass layoff.
