‘Pseudo-scientific’: Dems urge DOE to scrap climate report

The Trump administration is using the Department of Energy report to undermine climate rulemaking.

Democratic congressional leaders are demanding the withdrawal of a Trump administration report that undermines the scientific consensus on climate change — and has been embroiled in controversy since its release.

In two letters to Energy Secretary Chris Wright last week, House and Senate Democrats slammed his department’s report on the science of climate change as “misleading,” “pseudo-scientific” and “slapdash.”

The Department of Energy report, released in late July, attacks well-established scientific links between greenhouse gas emissions and global warming.

The administration is using it to help overturn a 2009 endangerment finding under the Clean Air Act, which holds that fossil fuel emissions pose a harm to human health.
