A coalition of Republican attorneys general has sent a warning letter to the clean-energy nonprofit Ceres, claiming its work to promote renewables may be violating antitrust and consumer protection laws.

Led by Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier, the six attorneys general call the Boston-based investor network a “ringleader of the ‘climate cartel’“ and charge its efforts to convince businesses to move away from fossil fuels are an “an assault on American families and businesses.”

Ceres’ activities, the letter says, “raise concerns about compliance” and the attorneys general “are prepared to enforce antitrust laws if necessary to stop any illegal conduct by Ceres.”
